TRASH AND RECYCLING SERVICES

The Village of Unionville contracts with Emterra Environmental to provide trash and recycling services to our residents.

Village residents are billed for trash and recycling services at $29.36 bi-monthly, this charge will be added to your water and sewer bi-monthly bill. A fuel surcharge of $3.00 bi-monthly will be added, subject to changes from Emterra.

Holidays - If a holiday falls on or before your scheduled day, pickup will be one (1) day later than normal.  If a holiday falls on a weekend, your scheduled pickup day will NOT be changed.  OBSERVED HOLIDAYS ARE: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

 Trash will be picked up weekly on Tuesdays and Recycling will be picked up bi-weekly on Tuesdays. Place trash and recycling at the street by 7 am. 

Trash is collected in plastic bags or garbage cans weighing no more than 50 lbs. when full (no 55-gallon barrels).  For those with special pickup needs, please contact Emterra directly at 989-658-2594.

Recycling bins are available at the Village Hall, please call the office at 989-674-2244 to request a bin.  You do not need to sort recyclable items.  Recyclables will not be accepted in plastic bags.

What can I recycle:

• Newspaper - Place newspapers, phone books, magazines & glossy newspaper inserts in brown paper bags or bundle and tie with string.
• Cardboard - Clean corrugated cardboard must be bundled and tied in two (2) foot squares, not exceeding a thickness of one (1) foot.
• Plastic #1-#7 - Plastics should be rinsed clean with the cap removed.  No motor oil, anti-freeze or cooking oil containers please.
• Cans - Clean tin and aluminum cans.  These items may be flattened to conserve space in your container.
• Glass - Clear, brown and green empty glasses.  The glass should be cleaned out.
• Cartons - Empty and clean boxed food and beverage cartons, paper cups.
